Here are Inside Bainbridge recommendations for the weekend of August 17-19, 2012.
1. Free Outdoor Movie at Waterfront Park: Tootsie
When: Friday, 8:30 p.m.
Where: Waterfront Park
Why: What could be better on a hot evening than sitting outside and watching a movie with Jessica Lange in an Oscar-winning performance? Bring a blanket (cotton, not wool), your hand fan, and a spray bottle. Mrs. Doubtfire, you’re so lame!
2. Waterfront Park Volunteer Work Day
When: Saturday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Where: Waterfront Park
Why:
- It counts as exercise.
- It won’t be so hot on Saturday,
- You can take out your frustrations with work, traffic, and election ads on invasive plant species.

3. Island Theatre Ten-Minute Play Festival
When: Saturday and Sunday, 7:30-9:30 p.m.
Where: Bainbridge Performing Arts
Why:
- Fourteen plays by local playwrights.
- This is the perfect theater event for the theater shy. Even if you don’t like what you’re seeing, it will be over in 10 minutes, and something new will start. But chances are the plays will all be good: These are the very best of 56 submissions from all over Kitsap.

4. Bike for Pie
When: Sunday, with the Challenge Ride starting between 8:30 and 9:15 a.m. and the Family Friendly ride at 10:30.
Where: Marge Williams Center, 221 Winslow Way W.
Why:
- This event combines two of the very best things in the world: biking and pie.
- Two routes to choose from: a 32-mile ride around the island and a family friendly 12-mile ride.
- A rest stop with savory pies is hosted by Friends of the Farms served at Fort Ward.
- Low fees:
- Challenge ride (two pie stops) – Adult = $20; Child,14 and under, $10
- Family ride (one pie stop) - Adult = $10; Child, 14 and under, $5
